Age 95, a lifelong resident Albuquerque, entered into eternal peace Wednesday, September 19, 2012. She was surrounded by her family when she was called to our Heavenly Father. Sylvia was born to Vicenta Romero and Herminio Rodarte and was the last of the Rodarte clan of four sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alvaro P. Moraga, in a long marriage just short of 67 years and by her loving daughter, Maria Elena Baca Chavez, and her loving step-son Roberto A. Moraga; five granddaughters Anna Marie Trujillo, Elizabeth Ortega, Cathy Madrid, Mary Louise Garcia, and Pamela Baca; and grandson Christopher Chavez; and step-granddaughters Stephanie Moraga-McHaley and Patricia Moraga; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins. Mrs. Moraga was preceded in death by her son, Lance Stephan Moraga, grandson Michael Anthony Chavez, granddaughter Sylvia Alberta Chavez, and her son-in-law Eliseo Chavez. Sylvia was a person who made friends easily and was well liked by all who knew her as long as she lived. She was a practicing Roman Catholic, participating in many events as needed up to the onset of her illness years ago. She was a faithful member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the People's Eucharistic League, and the Woodmen of the World. She enjoyed all manner of needle crafts and was an accomplished quilter. Mrs. Moraga also enjoyed gardening and traveling with Alvaro. Rosary will be recited, Monday, September 24, 2012, 7:00 pm at French - University, with Henry and Gloria Sanchez, reciting. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, 9:00 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 4th St NW. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Tuesday, September 25 at 3:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Edward Rodarte, Christopher Chavez, Waldo Sanchez, Henry Sanchez, James Olivas, and Gilbert Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Juan Rodarte and Joseph Rodarte.
