Swaroop Ramachandra Chary

Srimattirumala Swaroop R. Chary, age 45, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Swaroop was born on Wednesday, August 11, 1976, in Chennai, India. Swaroop came from a lineage of Hindu Sri Vaishnavaite teachers, who closely follow the teachings of the Guru Ramanuja.

Swaroop was a brilliant student and academic. After completing a degree in Civil Engineering in Hyderabad, India, Swaroop came to the United States to pursue and receive a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at Lamar University in Texas, and then a Master's degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics at the University of New Mexico. In his career, Swaroop was a Director in Software Engineering Services at Sun Microsystems and then a Senior Economist at the State of New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department.

Swaroop was married to his loving wife, Radha Chary, and they have one son together, Aravind Swaroop Chary. Swaroop was a passionate admirer and musician of Indian Classical Carnatic music, a loving supporter of the Sri Neem Karoli Baba Ashram and Hanuman Temple in Taos, New Mexico, and interested and talented at real estate investment and renovations. He was a compassionate, caring friend to anyone with whom he came in contact and deeply loved and cared for his family. Swaroop will be greatly missed.

Swaroop was predeceased by his dear sister, Swapna Chary. He is survived by his father, Ramachandra Chary; mother, Swarnalatha Chary; wife, Radha Chary; niece, Srirekha; nephew, Srikamal; and his son, Aravind.

Services will be held on Friday, December 24, 2021, 9:00 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Santuario de Karuna, a New Mexico-based organization dedicated to rescuing farm animals, an issue about which he was passionate.
