Susan Womble, 70, beloved mother and grandmother, and loving widow of Dale Thomas Womble was called home to be with the Lord on February 17, 2018. She entered this world on April 5, 1947 in Burlington, NC, only child of Gladys Shepherd. Susan raised two daughters while working and going to school. She graduated from UNM with her Bachelors in Accounting, Masters in Business and then went back after retiring from PNM to get yet another degree, a Master’s in Education. Susan worked for PNM for twenty plus years before retiring. After retirement she went back to school and became a teacher. She taught over 300 children and retired from teaching to spend time with her family. Susan, being quite the social butterfly, spent her leisure time playing bridge, volunteering in classrooms, teaching Sunday school, lunching with friends, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother, and friend that leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship.

She is survived by two daughters, Shannon Apodaca (Brian Smiset) and Maria (Mark) Caruthers; grandchildren, Kelsey, Andrew, and Nicholas Apodaca, Devon Juvinall, and Shane and Cody Caruthers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at The First Baptist Church of West Albuquerque at 6400 Golf Course Rd NW Albuquerque NM 87120 with a reception to immediately follow.
