Susan J. Walter
Born on Wednesday, November 30, 1955, in Bronx, New York, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the age of 67.
She is survived by her beloved dog Tai; long-term partner, Ben Armentrout; daughter, Desiree Davis; sister, Julie Walter; and nephew, Paul McLeod (Julie). Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Richard Walter. Along with her family and a large network of friends, Susan also leaves behind thousands of students that she taught for Albuquerque Public Schools during her 30 years as a bilingual resource and ESL teacher there. She started her teaching career in 1978 working at Washington Middle School and held that position for 19 years. She spent the remaining 11 years at Duranes Elementary School. Susan's passion was the Spanish language and all Spanish speaking cultures. She explored this passion through her profession, friendships, food, and music. Her love for animals, especially dogs, was shown through her immense love for her dog Tai and in bringing treats for every other dog she met. Susan's sense of humor and infectious laugh made her the life of any party. Her kindness, generosity, and wit will be greatly missed.
