Susan Mares was called home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 2, 2016. Susan was born to Eugene and Vangie Mares on July 23, 1965 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Everyone who knew Susan loved her smile, laugh, and big hugs. She had a sparkle in her eyes and a childlike innocence, and Susan's joy was evident to all. She loved people and truly delighted in them. Susan enjoyed music, stuffed animals, playing with her ball or balloons, attending dayhab at Adelante, going out to eat, and especially spending time with her family and friends.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Vangie Mares. She is survived by her caregiver, Susan Yee, and her aunt and guardian, Louisa Rael, who both remained devoted to Susan after the death of her mom nine years ago. Susan is also survived by Claudio and Prescides Rael, Jaime Gonzales, Joe Rael, Jimmy and May Yee, and cousins and friends.
The family extends a special thanks to Cheryl Cericola and the team, Robin Carter, and the staff at Adelante and Alta Mira. The family would also like to extend thanks to Hospice de la Luz.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at FRENCH - Westside, followed by an interment at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
