Susan Cook passed away on November 12, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She is survived by her son, Steve Cook of Los Angeles, CA; her daughter, Michelle Cook and son-in-law, Michael Herrmann of Albuquerque, and nieces, Debra, Robin, and Tracy Kehler. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy McKibben Kehler Burdick; father, Guy R. Kehler; step-father, Charles W. Burdick; and brother, David R. Kehler. Susan was born December 19, 1929 in Goshen, Indiana. She graduated from Orlando (Florida) High School in 1947 and attended Art Career School in New York City from 1949 to 1952. In 1953 she married Lt. Peter Alfred Cook, US Army, while stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany. Susan attended The College of St. Joseph on The Rio Grande in Albuquerque from 1963 to 1966 and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She received her Masters degree in art education from the University of New Mexico. Susan taught art at Sandia High School from 1966 - 1991. She expressed her own creativity through silver jewelry, weaving, calligraphy and photography. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, classical concerts, travel, and the cats and dogs who shared her life. Susan was a loving, supportive mother and teacher, and a loyal friend who enriched all she met with her wonderful sense of humor. We will miss her trememdously.
