Susan B Chavez

Susan Chavez, age 69, a resident of Albuquerque and Arkansas, was reunited with God in heaven on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. She is survived by her son, Jonathan J. Chavez, and his wife, Cassandra Chavez; grandchildren Felicia, Darian, Gracelynn "Gracie", Keith, and Joseph; brother James Shields; sisters Sarah Slaughter and Peggy Neis; and many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Shields; her husband, Patricio "Pat" Chavez; and her son, Brian J. Chavez. We would also like to thank Mike Eisenberg for his love and care and faithfully caring for Susan until the end.

She was born in 1952 in New Jersey and graduated from Valley High, Albuquerque, NM, class of 1970. Susan served as the first woman to join the Air National Guard and served honorably for 6 years of service. She was a member of Risen Savior Catholic Church where she was active in the Women's guild and volunteered her time to be an usher for church services. Susan was a loving wife and mother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, 6:00p.m., at FRENCH-Wyoming. Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 11th, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Honorary Pallbearers will be KenMark and Marian Chavez.
