Age 82, passed away on March 13, 2014. She was born and reared in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Sue taught Junior High School in Oregon and New Hampshire after graduation from the University of Colorado. In recognition of her conspicuous attainments and scholarship in the field of History, she was made a member of Phi Alpha Theta. After graduate work at the University of California (Berkeley), Sue entered the United States Air Force through the Direct Commission Program. A cold war and Vietnam veteran, she was the recipient of multiple Air Force Commendation medals, and after serving twenty years retired in 1977. Prior to moving to Albuquerque in 1985, from Sacramento, California, Sue studied Animal Health Technology and was one of the founders of the Gold Country Akita Club there, breeding and showing Akitas for a number of years. She continued her work with and promotion of the Akita dog breed in Albuquerque as a charter member of the Land of Enchantment Akita Club, during which she organized and operated the Akita Rescue Group. Sue was also a long time member of the Rio Grande Kennel Club, and New Mexico Stewards Association. Sue is survived by a half sister and a number of cousins; all relatives reside in Wisconsin. There will be no service or funeral. After cremation, interment will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
