Sue Carol (Williams) St. Cyr, 85, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, after suffering from dementia and pneumonia brought on by Coronavirus. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Frederic P. St. Cyr in 2005; parents John and Francis (Brandy) Williams of Albuquerque; sister Beverly (Williams) Dryden (2018) and her husband Jim (2012) of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother Jack Williams (2019) of San Jose, California; nephew Phillip Williams (2021) of San Jose, California.
Sue was a graduate of Highland High School (1954) and the University of New Mexico (1958) where she met Fred, her future husband, at the school's Newman Center. The couple married in June 1958 shortly after Sue earned a fine arts degree and then proceeded to move to Europe when Fred, an Air Force Master Sergeant, was assigned to a base in Germany. Sue enjoyed traveling, camping in the Alps, and learned cake decorating skills from a German baker. After base assignments in Aurora, Colorado and Washington, D.C., the couple returned to Albuquerque to raise three children, John, Peter and Sharon.
Sue built a reputation as a top wedding cake designer and after working as a bridal consultant at the Empress Shop, joined Fred as owners of Hilda's Cake Decorating Shop. A talented teacher, Sue also enjoyed working with special education students at Highland High School in her "retirement" years, and prepared children for first communion and confirmation at Annunciation Catholic Church.
Sue is survived by three children: John Frederic St. Cyr and wife Amanda; Peter St. Cyr, all of Albuquerque; and daughter Sharon (St. Cyr) McMahan and husband, Stephen, of Tijeras, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Victoria (St. Cyr) Rollins and husband Sean of Maitland, Florida; Ryan McMahan and wife Mikaela of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Cameron McMahan and wife Jessica of San Pedro, California; five great-grandchildren, Noah Bryce Rollins, Shayleigh Reagan Rollins, Emma Shay Addison McMahan, Weston James McMahan and Evangeline Harper McMahan; six nieces and nephews, Debbie (Dryden) Lytton and Janet (Dryden) Zinser and husband Thom, all of Colorado; Mark Dryden and wife Pamela (Wilson); Bob Dryden and wife Robin (Cockey), of Virginia; John Williams and Brian Williams and wife Sandra (Jun), of California. She is also survived by sister-in-law Phyllis Williams, of San Jose, California.
A memorial service will be held later this year. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Fred, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation [
