Steven Felix Sanchez

Steven Felix Sanchez, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023, after a long illness. He was born on Thursday, June 14, 1956, in Albuquerque, NM. to Leo C. Sanchez and Frances Rita (Hovey) Sanchez.

Steven is preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents Melecio Sanchez and Emilina Candelaria Sanchez; maternal grandparents Bernardino P. Hovey and Florinda (Maestas) Hovey; older brother Michael Leo, and younger brother Michael Leo; his uncles, Andy Salas, Amarante (Sam) Sanchez, Ray Sanchez, Elmer Hovey and Melesco Griego; and many other relatives and friends

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Alice Sanchez; sons Aaron C. Sanchez (Amber), Sean D. Sanchez (Julie); daughter Tanya M. Peterson; and eight grandchildren; uncle, Mel and aunt, Augie Sanchez, and aunt, Katie Rodate and uncle, Sam Rodarte.

Steven grew up going with his grandfather Hovey to their ranch near Cabezon Peak. It was there that Steven developed his love for cattle ranching

Steven was a hardworking, generous man with a great sense of humor, who enjoyed laughing with family and friends. Steven enjoyed fishing and cooking. Steven was one of the owners of Sanchez SW School Bus Co. and Coaches, LTD. His grandfather, Mel Sanchez, started taking students to Albuquerque High School and Griegos Elementary in the 1930's. Leo C. Sanchez joined the company in the 1950's, and became one of the most recognized names in transportation services

Our Steven (Stevie) will be greatly missed with love until we are all together again with our Lord. God Bless all of Steven's family and friends. Viewing will be at 9:15am on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, followed by rosary at 9:30 a.m. and mass at 10:15a.m., at St. Jude Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise Blvd. NW. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at Wyoming and Paseo del Norte. Pallbearers are Sean D. Sanchez, Aaron C. Sanchez, Richard Martinez, Gerald Ortiz, Omar Leyba Sabag and Toby De Vargas, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Steven's uncle Mel Sanchez
