Stephen Wright Thompson, MD, Emeritus Professor of Neurology at University of New Mexico, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 after a short illness.
Born September 24, 1926 in Dayton, OH, to Stephen Wilkins Thompson and Dorothy Wright Thompson, he was awarded his doctorate, Magna Cum Laude, by Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in Korea in 1953 and 1954, before working on the medical faculties of the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma. In 1965, he joined the Neurology Department at UNM, where he remained the rest of his career.
He is survived and greatly missed by his wife, Eileen; children, Stephen and wife, Olga, Michele Lommasson and husband, Glenn, and Michael; granddaughter, Adrianne Lommasson; brother, Robert; and sister, Mary Muller.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018, 11:00 a.m., at St. Stephen's Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo Blvd NE.
