A resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died June 6, 2014 at the age of 96. He survived by his wife of 66 years, Margaret "Marny" C. Cooper; his children Mark S. Cooper of Tumwater, WA and Michele Cooper and her husband Walter of Rathdrum, ID; grandchildren Mindy, Molly, Amy and Michael; great grandchildren Brayden, McKenzie and Kaleb. Mr. Cooper enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1940 for radio school and served with the 73rd Bomber Squadron in Alaska. He flew in 96 missions over India and Burma in B-26's. He also spent 2 years in the Aleutian Islands training recruits. He received 4 service air medals and 1 Distinguished Flying Cross. He married his sweetheart Marny on February 7, 1948 in Boise, ID. Mr. Cooper owned and operated his own Neon Sign Company in Boise then later worked for the State of Idaho Northern District Electric Bureau retiring in 1983. Mr. Cooper was an avid golfer and played without a cart until he was 90. The family wishes to give special thanks to Father Johnny Lee Chavez, Grace Klein, Traci Graves, Graciela Hernandez Diera and Heartland Hospice for their love, support and care. Services will be held Monday, June 30th, 2014, 1:30 p.m. at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, 8901 Candelaria Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church and/or the Sandia Dog Obedience Club, 7050 San Pedro NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.
