Steve left this earth on Monday, March 14, 2022. His valiant 2-year fight against disease is a testament to his strength and determination to enjoy life to its fullest. He was surrounded by family and friends in the days prior to him passing. Steve was born in Albuquerque and lived most of his life here. He was a graduate of Manzano High School and attended UNM.
Steve is survived by his wife, Beth Cantrell; son, Austin Cantrell (Marcia); brothers, Tom Cantrell (Geri), Jack Cantrell (Kristy Powell) and Jim Cantrell, 10 nieces and nephews, many extended family members. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Tony Cantrell; mother, Marcia Cantrell; and sister, Carol Cantrell.
Steve was a good and generous man. He mentored many to be their best and shared his kindness with everyone he encountered. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, and driving. Steve was a musician, a mechanical designer, entrepreneur, and mechanic. Steve's legacy is his perseverance.
Steve was deeply loved by many people. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Westside, with the Funeral Service to take place on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
