Stella Gray

Stella passed on Monday, May 30th, 2022, at home with her family, who remained by her side continuously during times of struggle. She was born, Stella Helen Monica Anastasia Sullivan on November 25th, 1936, in St. John's, Newfoundland to Michael and Monica (Hafey) Sullivan.

Stella married the love of her life, Don Gray, on April 3rd, 1971, only a few months after meeting on a blind date. Shortly after their wedding, and Don's discharge from the Navy, they settled in Albuquerque, where they raised their family of two boys.

Stella was the eighth of nine children that included five sisters; Josephine; Mary; Rita; Margaret and Frances; and three brothers; Patrick, Thomas and Michael; all of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her ever-loving husband of over 51 years, Don and their sons Don "Lee" together with his wife Claire and son Kyle (21); and Brian with his daughter Jenna (8). All of whom reside in Albuquerque and who have enjoyed many great days in her presence. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews living throughout Canada and the US.

Stella was a faithful believer in God and a long-time member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Parish. She served the Lord and fellow believers as a Lay Minister to residents of a Long-Term Care facility, a Specialty Hospital and to the residents of a Senior Living facility. Each week bringing Communion, worship, and the always much needed companionship, caring and love.

Stella's favorite past time was spending time with her beloved husband and family. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting and won numerous awards at the New Mexico State Fair over the years for her efforts. She loved to go antiquing, wandering through the shops and adding to her collection of the many pieces brought from her home, Newfoundland.

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m., St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE with burial to follow at 11:45 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque.
