WALIGORA, JR., CHP, STANLEY J. A devoted resident of Albuquerque and Bernalillo for forty-seven years, Stanley joined his family in Heaven on October 28, 2014. Born on September 11, 1937 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of Stanley J. Waligora Sr. and Helen Mogilska, Stan grew up with two sisters, Jean and Carol. He worked his way through school graduating from Sienna College in 1959 with a B.S. in Physics. After college Stan enlisted in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant, working at DNAS Kirtland during a critical period in the nation's growing nuclear program and later acting as a radiation safety officer at Nevada Test Site. He co-authored numerous technical manuals and training films for radiation detection, biological effects, and Industrial Hygiene during this period. After leaving the military Stan continued a 54 year career in the civilian sector as a Certified Health Physicist where he championed efforts towards environmental clean-up and set new federal standards in hazardous materials waste collection and disposal. Working with the Department of Energy he generated remediation proposals for nuclear fuel plants, uranium mills, and numerous industrial facilities. During this time he founded his own company, Environmental Dimensions Inc. EDI provided services for the DOE, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Stan also participated on numerous standards committees and federal programs. Stan will be joining his wife, Annie Laurie Waligora and son; Stanley J. Waligora III. He is survived by his sister, Jean; and his four sons, Steven, David, Joseph, and Mark Waligora. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in the Urn Garden, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
