Stanley Edmund was called to his heavenly home on January 12, 2019 after a brave battle with lung cancer.
Stan was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on January 8, 1947, the oldest of eight children. The family moved to Texas when he was four, and then he moved to his beloved New Mexico in 1974. He is survived by his father, three brothers and three sisters, Ginny, wife of 22 years, daughter, Kathy Edmund Dobbs, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Stanley had many interests, cars, sailing, target shooting, reading, history and traveling, and became most passionate about flying in his early teenage years. With a servant’s heart, he joined The New Mexico Civil Air Patrol and was proud to have a number of finds in his career. He especially loved taking cadets up and encouraging their interest in flying.
He worked for Sandia National Labs in a number of different capacities, then went on to the Department of Energy. Since his retirement, Stan has enjoyed traveling and made sure he spent time visiting with friends and family.
Mass will be said to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 26, 2019, 10:00 a.m., at St. John XXIII Catholic Community Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
