Ssang Cha Krastel, age 76, dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024. Cha was known for her resilience through life, traveling to America on her own in an effort to create a better life for her and her daughter as well as her delicious Korean cooking. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Ollom (husband David Ollom), and her two grandchildren Harrison and Hannah. She is also survived by her older sister, Cho Mun Ja (조문자) and two younger brothers, Cho Sang Gi (조상기) and Cho Sang Ui (조상의) in Korea. She also leaves many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins in Korea. Also touching Cha's life were her dear friends the Shins, the Garmans, the Shires, the Yis, the Stirrats, the Olloms and her neighbors of over 30 years, Ray and Ken. Cha was preceded in death by her mother, Jung Mal Soon (정말순), twin sister Cho Ssang Im (조쌍임), father Cho Sam Seok (조삼석), and her husband of 25 years, Norman Krastel.
A funeral will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 9:30am at French Funeral Home, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
