Sonia Renee Montes, 42, went to her eternal home on Monday, April 23, 2018 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she was surrounded by her loving family.  Heaven received a blessed angel.

Sonia was born May 1, 1975 in Silver City, New Mexico to Leopoldo and Elsie Majalca. She is survived by her loving husband Freddie Montes of 23 years; three daughters, Brandi Montes, Mercades Montes, Devin Montes, and her son Jude Montes; her mother Elsie Majalca; two sisters, Lynette Leyba and her husband Eddie, and Sylena McCarty and her husband Terrance and many nephews and nieces whom she loved as her very own. Sonia is preceded in death by her father Leopoldo Majalca.

Sonia was a selfless, loving, and strong woman. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Sonia gave of herself to many and sacrificed all she could to help others become better. She opened her home to everyone she could. Many were given the opportunity to start new lives and new beginnings and many were cared for in their times of need because of her great role as a care taker and her passion for the concerns of others. We have lost a great family woman who shared all of her love and strength with everyone who had the blessing and privilege to meet her. Until we meet again.....dance with the angels in the presence of our Lord!

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at FRENCH – Westside followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. There will be a reception immediately after the service at Passion Church at 5528 Eubank Blvd. NE Albuquerque, New Mexico 87111.
