Solomon Madrid

January 31, 1936 — February 9, 2013

Age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 9, 2013. Solomon was an active member of Risen Savior Catholic Church for over 36 years. He was a graduate of St. Michael's High School and College of Santa Fe. He also served in the U.S. Navy. Solomon worked for the U.S. Postal Service and retired as an IRS agent from the Internal Revenue Service. He went on to work for ten years with the Small Business Development Center, while still maintaining his own tax business. Solomon loved his family and his faith. He was responsible for starting the Spanish Choir at Risen Savior and was the first president of St. Vincent De Paul Society. Solomon's passion for the poor was apparent to all who knew him. His passion also extended to his many years of service to the prison ministry. Solomon was married for over 56 years. Solomon was preceded in death by his mother, Romualda Madrid. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Mae Madrid; three beloved sons, Steve Madrid and wife Theresa, Michael Madrid, and Kenny Madrid; loving daughter, Sandra White and son-in- law, Timothy White; grandchildren, Jessica Madrid, Brenda Madrid, Francine Madrid, Christopher White, Daniel White, Brandi Madrid and Brittany Madrid; great- grandchildren, Estrella Madrid, Isaiah Perez, Alexus Madrid, and Isabella Madrid; two brothers, Richard (P-nuts) Madrid and wife Gloria, and Robert Madrid and wife Inez; and sister-in-law, Veronica Montoya. Rosary will be recited Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Risen Savior Catholic Church, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., also at Risen Savior Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society, 4120 Menual Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. The family would like to thank all friends and family for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
