Simon Ben Hernandez

Simon Ben Hernandez, 71, beloved husband and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on February 24, 2018. He entered this world on December 3, 1946 in Canjilon, NM, born to Simon and Theodora Hernandez. He is survived by his wife Nora Hernandez; daughters, DeVona Gonzales and Monica Spencer; son-in-law; Bill Gonzales; grandsons, Justin Chavez and Tyler Spencer; granddaughters Bruklyn Gonzales, and Ashley Spencer and great granddaughter, Paige Chavez. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Teddy Hernandez, and two brothers Joe and Frank Hernandez. He is survived by his three sisters, LaVern, Anna, and Alison.

Ben touched everyone’s lives with his beautiful, outgoing personality. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Ben served his country in the Army, and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He worked for 35 years with the Defense Nuclear Agency, and then retired to open his own sports photography business supporting New Mexico schools and sports leagues. Ben was always sponsoring local leagues, and volunteering his time to support local charities by donating pictures. Ben was an avid Broncos fan, and sports lover. He loved to travel with his family, and play golf on weekends with his buddies. However the thing that made Ben the happiest was being with his family. He cherished every moment, and lived to see them happy. Ben loved ANY holiday because he knew that meant he would see family, and enjoy the time we had together. Ben impacted all our lives in sooooo many ways, and will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held for family and friends on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at FRENCH - Westside followed by a Memorial Service to start at 11:30 a.m. Following the Memorial, Ben will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, 87107. Friends and Family are invited back to FRENCH - Westside to partake in his celebration of life.
