Sid Macy loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Friday, May 30, 2014 at age 97. He was preceded in death by his son, Bob Macy. Sid is survived by his wife of 73 years, June Macy; daughters, Ellen Marder, MD and husband, Wolf Schmidt-Nowara, MD and Mallory Davidson and husband, Wally Davidson; grandchildren, Wendy Vance, MD, Dinah Zeiss, Emily Macy, and Max Macy; great-grandchildren, Caroline Vance, MaryEllen Vance, Ellie Zeiss, and Ben Zeiss. Sid was born December 15, 1916 in Pennsylvania, living his earlier years in Verona, New Jersey. In the 1930's and 40's, he was a professional musician playing trumpet in many big bands, among them The Buddy Rogers Band. He also recorded and arranged music. During World War II, he served five years as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army/Special Services. The remaining 50 years, he worked as an industrial paint salesman, retiring in Sarasota, FL. Sid will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
