Shirley I. Kokenge

Shirley I. Kokenge, age 89, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1972, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013. She is survived by her children, Sandy Bushman and husband, Larry of Fort Dodge, IA, Lynne Kokenge of Albuquerque, NM, daughter-in-law, Valerie Kokenge of Tijeras, NM, grandchildren, Brad Bushman and his wife Shannon, Kimberly Zueter, Ashley Artzer and her husband Shane, Ross Kokenge, Sheila Kokenge and Trevor Kokenge, as well as six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kokenge was preceded in death by husband, Ernest Kokenge, son, Scott Kokenge, sisters, Muriel Sorenson, Cleo Davidson, Patricia Johnson, Winona Lynch and brother, David Smith. Shirley I. Kokenge was born October 21, 1924 in Atlantic, IA and attended schools in Shenandoah, IA. She was united in marriage October 4, 1947 to Ernest N. Kokenge and the couple made their home in Carroll, IA until moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1972. She enjoyed her family, her homes, reading, golf, bowling, gardening and foraging for treasures at estate and garage sales. Services will be held at Monday, October 28, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at FRENCH - Wyoming. Friends may visit one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Private Interment will take place Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
