Shirley A. (Trent) Eden

Shirley Trent Eden, 81, was received into the loving arms of the Lord, Saturday, November 25, 2017. She is survived by her extremely talented and accomplished children, Fritz D. Blanke, David L. Blanke (Christine), and Denise A. Currier (David). She has three surviving brothers, William Trent, Richard Trent (Esta), and Dr. Daniel Trent (Rebecca). She leaves eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, who were always in her thoughts and prayers. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charlie Eden; son, Douglas Kyle; her parents, Robert and Mabel Trent; brother, Harold Trent; and sister, Charlene Florian.

She graduated from Raton High School in Raton, NM, and continued to attend all her reunions. She retired from the Department of Energy, but continued to work as an EA at Jackson Middle School and Bel Air Elementary, and even taught Sunday School because she so enjoyed working with children. Shirley loved to stay busy. She was a member of the Palo Duro, Young At Heart, and Hoffmantown Church choirs. She was a missionary for E3 Partners Ministry, and went on a trip to Bucharest, Romania where she ministered to the children there. She belonged to the Friends of Bear Canyon Senior Group, volunteered in the UNMH medical students mentoring program, and was a Docent at the Albuquerque Museum for two years. She was a Christian who lived her faith. She attended services and had friends at Monterey Baptist Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church, and Sandia Baptist Church. She was also a spokesperson for The Voice of the Martyrs Ministry. She volunteered without hesitation when asked, and enjoyed every minute of it. She played both piano and guitar, and participated in the Senior Band at Bear Canyon Senior Center.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Monterey Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s name to Monterey Baptist Church, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Sandia Baptist Church, or Young At Heart Ministries.
