Sheryl Evans, age 69, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
Sheryl was born in the Women's Hospital at Embudo, New Mexico.
Grew up in Taos, New Mexico, a world famous art colony and was surrounded with writers, artists and colorful characters in true New Mexican culture. Her father, Max Evans, now deceased, a well-known writer/painter and mother artistic collaborator, Pat Evans, immersed her in a creative world full of unique experiences.
At 10 years old, they moved to Studio City, California and was also fortunate to be involved in the excitement of that world.
Moved to Albuquerque in Jr. High and lived there mostly all her life. After graduating from High School she studied welding and metal sculpture where she met and married artist, Kirk Hughey. They managed an apartment complex in Santa Fe while they did their artwork. After the divorce, she was an accomplished metal sculptor and worked at several jobs before being hired by Encino Gardens, a non-assisted housing facility for senior citizens where she remained for 20 years until retirement.
After retirement, her creative urges were satisfied with nature photography and was an avid reader. She was always there to take care of her elderly parents and being a loving sister to her twin, Charlotte Evans. She was a giving and sweet person to everyone she knew. She will be missed eternally.
She is survived by only her mother and sister and will be cremated with no memorial services, as she wished.
