Shelton "Tony" Shannon

SHANNON, SHELTON B. "TONY"Age 89, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 20, 2012. He was born October 31, 1923 in Dawson, NM and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1942. He was a machinist retired from Sandia Labs and served honorably in the US Army Air Corps in WWII. Tony was fiercely proud to be Irish, was an artist, a great dancer, incredibly funny and dearly loved by his wide circle of friends and family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eileen Shannon; his three daughters, Nancy Shannon and her sons, Jeff Page and Lt. Col. Todd A. Wydra, USAF (Rattana); Peggy McCauley (Phil) and her daughters, Mendy Doss, RN, (Ken), Meegan Carreno (Mario, USMC) and Maggie Garma (Frank); Toni Buck (Mike) and their children Patrick (Sharrel Colton, MD) and Erin Martoscelli (Dean); his stepson Greg Taylor (Linda) and their daughter Tammy Platt (David, US Army). He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter. He was predeceased by his parents, Stevenson B. and Catherine Shannon, and his siblings, Eloise Vanwoensel and Larry Shannon. A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Interment of his ashes will receive full Military Honors at Sunset Memorial Park following the services. Heaven now has a new Leprechaun.
