It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Sharon "Sharie" Rowland of Albuquerque. Sharie was born on Tuesday, November 26, 1946, and was the adopted child of Pat and Reba Rowland. She was a mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and Christian. Sharie had a wondrous childhood with loving parents and grandparents who taught her hard work, the gift of giving, and joy of knowing the Lord.
Sharie was a gifted musician; she began piano lessons at the age of four. When she was six her father was so impressed with her piano recital he bought her a Baby Grand piano. The piano became a lifelong vocation. Upon graduation from Sandia High School, in 1964 Sharie enrolled at Concordia University to obtain a teaching degree. She taught at a one room schoolhouse in Los Lunas run by the Lutheran Church for several years. Sharie then joined her parents at Rowlands Nursery.
One of Sharie's passions was people. She would walk into a room not knowing anybody and leave with connections that lasted a lifetime. She had an immense love for travel. Whether it was jetting across the world to exotic locations with her mom or bebopping down the road in her motorhome, stopping at every antique store she could find, she loved the adventure.
Helping the less fortunate was a way of life for Sharie. Sharie loved to hold special projects with friends filling backpacks and purses with goods for children and women, then donating them to local charity drives. She had a special place in her heart for Cuidando Los Ninos where for years she donated pens, pencils, crayons, books, and all types of learning tools to support their mission. In addition, Joy Junction, USO, and the Veterans Association are a few of the long-term charitable organizations she supported.
Sharie enjoyed her time at New Beginnings Church of God where she made friends and built her relationship with the Lord while studying the word of God.
Sharie was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Reba Rowland. She leaves behind a son, Tommy Rowland with grandsons, Lucas Rowland and Averee Rowland. Additional family includes her brother, Michael Rowland, his wife, Lisa Rowland, nieces, Erica Rowland, and Kenzie Rowland. Sharie recently reunited with a son placed for adoption at birth, Troy Hass, his wife Melissa and grandchildren, Rachel Haas, Aaron Haas, and Jonathan Haas. The "extended friend family" she leaves behind are too numerous to name but, are not forgotten.
Sharie's final resting place will be in Sunset Memorial Park by her mother, Reba Rowland. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Sharie wanted loved ones to donate to a charity in her honor.
