Sharon B. Colbourne

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and loving mother, Sharon B. Colbourne on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the age of 86. She died peacefully in the loving arms of her husband surrounded by the loving staff at the Palmilla Senior Living Memory Care Home.

Born on October 21, 1937, Sharon grew up in Beaumont, Texas until the age of 11 when she moved with her family to Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was here she finished school and graduated with a degree in education from the University of New Mexico. Throughout her 25 year career in education, she was devoted to supporting children and adults. Sharon was a school teacher and counselor. After retiring from the New Mexico school system, she traveled with her husband Chuck, (Charlie) to various states and countries - Australia, Indonesia, Tasmania, New Zealand and Malaysia to name a few. While there, she found places to volunteer or work; always striving to make the world a better place for those she served. Once they both retired, they settled in the state of Washington. While there, Sharon sought other ways to support and soon found herself the vice president of the Cascade Medical Foundation in Leavenworth. Although she enjoyed every adventure life brought her way, her heart remained in New Mexico. So after 13 years, she and Chuck moved back to New Mexico to spend their remaining days in the garden, surrounded by her family, friends and beloved dogs and of course enjoying her green chili!

Sharon was a devoted wife until her last breath. She was a loving mother, stepmother, step-grand and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her kindness, love and laughter touched everyone who knew her. Sharon loved to spend time with her family, her friends, and her dogs. She was an avid gardener and could get anything she touched to flourish. She was an adventurer and lived life to the fullest. Sharon had a warm smile, an infectious laugh and a spirit that radiated love and compassion. She will be deeply missed. 

Sharon is survived by her husband of almost 47 years, Charlie (Chuck) Colbourne, her beautiful daughters Stephanie and Seree, and her loving stepchildren Edwin and Theresa, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on March 27, 2024 at French Funerals - Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Road NW, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cascade Medical Foundation, 817 Commercial Street, Leavenworth, WA 98826 foundation@cascademedical.org
