Severiano (Steve, Seve) Abeyta 90, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed peacefully at home on June 16, 2022 in the presence of his loving family. He is survived by his wife, Marie (Dolly) of 69 years; and children, Debbie Sanchez (Conrad), Michael Abeyta (Shirley), Rosalie Duran, and Stan Abeyta (Vicky); grandchildren, Dominic Chavez, JR Duran, Cris Duran, Vanessa Abeyta, Gabriel Abeyta, Andrew Abeyta, Adam Abeyta, Alyssa Abeyta, and Jacob Sanchez; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jennie Vallejos (Alex); brother, Pat Garcia (Eldora); sisters-in-law, Mary Abeyta, Jean Abeyta, and Cris Abeyta; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eutimio and Beatrice Abeyta; sisters, Virginia Abeyta and Margaret Armijo; brothers, Benjamin, Tim, and Frank Abeyta. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 27, 1931 and lived and worked on the family farm (Abeyta Orchard) for his childhood years.
Severiano served in the Navy in San Diego where he met his wife, Dolly. He then returned to Albuquerque and served as a fireman at Kirkland Air Force Base. In 1972 he started working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), where he retired after 41 years of service. One of his many other jobs was as a Real Estate agent and during all of this he found the time to earn his bachelor's in International Business from the University of New Mexico.
He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, and camp where many great memories and family stories will be told for years and generations to come. For any gathering it was well known that Seve and Dolly would be dancing all night, first on the dance floor and last to leave the dance floor. Also, when the opportunity would arise you would see them leading a Wedding Marcha. He loved the Casino and Crap tables where there were many trips to Las Vegas and the local Indian Casinos.
As a family man, Severiano took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to give lessons and advice. He could be both tough and serious as well as fun loving with his stories, lessons, and advice.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, 9:30 a.m. and the Mass will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5300 Claremont Ave. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110, followed by a burial with military honors at 2:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St - Santa Fe, NM 87501.
Pallbearers will be Vanessa Abeyta, Gabriel Abeyta, DeAndra Linton, Kobe Linton, Adam Abeyta and Alyssa Abeyta.
