Seferino Lucero, age 71, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother, was called to his eternal resting place on Monday, November 9, 2020. He was born on Sunday, December 12, 1948 in Corrales NM, to Juan and Charlotte Lucero.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Lucero-Martinez and spouse Bill; son, Milnor Lucero and spouse Kathy; daughter, Anna Lucero; granddaughters, Abrieanna Barela, Madison Lucero, Payson Lucero; grandsons, Gavin Martinez, Caleb Martinez, Bryson Lucero; brothers, Ernest Lucero, Roy Lucero, Frances Lucero, Johnny Lucero, Rudy Lucero, Leon Lucero; sister, Mary Miskimon and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Charlotte Lucero; sister, Lilly Montoya; brother Richard Lucero; and his beloved wife, Magdelene.
Seferino served in the United States Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of two very honorable metals the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Combat veteran, was a title he earned and proudly wore on a baseball cap when he wasn't wearing his cowboy hat. He was a dedicated employee of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District where he was an irrigation system operator. He retired after 27 years of service. His valuable knowledge of land and water management did not cease at his retirement. Seferino continued with his passion for farming and caring for his cows and horses. He always found time to hunt and fish, or attend the sporting events and rodeos that his grandchildren were involved in. He also provided support and shared his knowledge with all who would seek his advice. It is without a doubt that Seferino made a huge impact on those whom he met and he would always say "oh that was my friend."
Rosary and Mass will be held outdoors on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church, 10- A North 10th St. Belen, NM (Please remain in your vehicle and tune into the radio station 107.3).
Seferino will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery .
Honorary Pallbearer’s are his grandsons, Gavin Martinez, Caleb Martinez, Bryson Lucero; and his Godson, Eddie Trujillo.
