Sarah graduated from Trinidad High School in 1943 and married Bernard Richard Espinosa, also of Trinidad, shortly after graduation. Richard was in the Army and was killed on June 8, 1944 in France during the Normandy Invasion.

Sarah attended Beauty School in Trinidad, Colorado and was working in La Junta in 1946 when she met Nick De Lorenzo. They were married on April 28, 1946. Nick and Sarah moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1950, where they bought a home in which she resided until her death.

She also was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, room mother and all-round support for her kids and grandkids. Her home was always open to young people who needed a place to live, fostering nieces, nephews, and friends of her kids. She retired in 1980 and she and Nick spent a lot of time in La Junta, Colorado on their son's farm. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, growing beautiful plants and flowers, fishing, camping and visiting with family.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Richard Espinosa and Nick De Lorenzo, her brothers, Gilbert Gonzales and Orlando Gonzales, her sister, Bernadine Gayet, a grandson, Nick E.F.
