Sara Anne (Carpenter) Morris

Sara (Sally) Anne Morris, 85, was born in Marshalltown, IA., daughter of James Warden Carpenter and Helen Agnes Burroughs Carpenter, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 11, 2021 in Albuquerque, NM. The family moved from Marshalltown, IA to Denver, CO, Grand Junction, CO, and ultimately settled in Farmington, NM in 1950. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1954 and attended the University of New Mexico where she majored in engineering, was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority, and was homecoming queen in 1956. In 1957 she married James Paxton "Corky" Morris of Albuquerque, NM; they raised their family together, she helped Corky in the family warehouse business along with his work in the Republican party.

A loving mother and wife, Sally was known for her upbeat attitude and friendly personality. She loved working on family history, knitting and crocheting blankets and booties for newborn babies. She is survived by her children, Jim Morris (Marilynn), Joe Morris (JoAnn), and Janna Marie Kimmel (Terry) of Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Mary-Therese Morris, Stuart Morris, Phil Morris, and Peter Gibson and Madison Wrightsman both of Oklahoma; 16 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dick Carpenter (Cheryl) of Aztec, NM, and Sam Carpenter (Emily) of Farmington, NM; and sister, Sandra Hickman (Larry) of Aztec, NM. She was predeceased by a grandson, Christopher Morris.

She wanted to be remembered for her love of God, family and country.

Services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021; Rosary 9:30 a.m.., Eulogy 9:50 a.m., and Mass 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
