Sara Rose Armistead, 34, passed away quietly at home on February 22, 2016, after a tough but brave battle with cancer. She was a resident of Albuquerque for the past 23 years. She was born on November 13, 1981 at Cape Fear Valley Memorial Hospital in Fayetteville, NC to Lena Rose and William Charles Armistead. A Monzano High School graduate, class of 2000, Sara was one of the Top 10 Merit Scholars in her class. She successfully completed her bachelors degree at Southern Oregon University in 2004. Sara had a heart of gold and a 10,000 watt smile. She could light up any room with her positive attitude. She made everyone laugh with her quick wit and dry sense of humor. And oh could she roll her eyes! An independent thinker, Sara believed in equality for everyone. Sara put her dreams for a masters degree on hold while she helped care for her ill mother. Sadly, she never had the chance to reach that goal. Sara's short life has made a wonderful and long term impact on the lives of so many people. She touched the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was not only loved by family and friends, but she captured the attention and hearts of all of her medical care teams. Sara is survived by her beloved father, Charlie, and her amazing brother, Rob whom she loved with all her heart. She was predeceased by her mother, Lena, and leaves behind her 3 beloved cats, and a multitude of close friends. The family wishes to thank the medical teams at UNMH oncology group, Dr. Sarah Adams, and Heartland Hospice for their expertise, professionalism and kindness through this most difficult time. Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. A Memorial service will be held Friday, February 26, 2016, 7:00 p.m. at X-Factor Christian Fellowship, 3023 Montclaire Dr NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
