Sandra "Sandy Coach" Rockwell

March 25, 1937 — March 6, 2014

Age 76, passed away on March 6, 2014. She was born to the late Marshall and Virginia Walker on March 25, 1937 in Hurley, NM. Sandra graduated from the University of NM and went on to teach and coach softball, volleyball, and cheerleading at Rio Grande High School for 26 years. Her students affectionately reffered to her as "Miss. Rock". Family and friends were Sandra's passion and delight. She enjoyed bowling, trips to Las Vegas, watching football, playing fantasy football, Lobos basketball, planting her flowers in the spring, and doing anything that involved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, W. Phillip Rockwell; son, Brad Rockwell and girlfriend, Fran Naro of Park City, UT; Robin Rockwell-Harrison and husband, Jeff of Rio Rancho; grandchildren, Heather Rockwell and boyfriend, Kelly Baber, Jenna Montano and husband, Manny, and Jordon Rockwell and girlfriend, Jenny Pumphrey, all of Albuquerque, and Jade-Rylie Parks of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren, Presley and Madix; Melissa Rockwell, and Marshal Lambert of Albuquerque; and sister-in-laws, Sandra Walker, Julie Walker, and Phyllis Stephens; many cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister Karen Wilder; twin bothers Lance and Brian Walker; and brother-in-law, Don Wilder. Sandra's family would like to invite all who loved her to gather for an "open house" celebration of her life on Sunday, March 16, from noon to 3:00 pm at Sandiago's Restaurant, located at the base of the tram. "A limb has fallen from the family tree, grieve not for me, remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong." We will miss your smile, the sparkle in your eyes, your laughter, your friendship, your mentorship, your excitement for new things, your support in all we do, but most of all we will miss your unconditional love. "It will be alright. It is what it is." Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His Hands. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Presbyterian In-Patient Hospice at 8300 Constituation Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
