Salvador “Romello” Barcena, was born in Pachuca Hidalgo, Mexico to Yolanda Islas (Mother) and Ramiro Barcena (father, who precedes him in death). Salvador passed away in Estancia, Mexico on Monday, January 24th, 2022. We will always celebrate his life and who he was. His heart was made of pure gold and no matter who you were, he always considered you a friend or family. Salvador touched so many lives and was a wonderful husband of 30years to Jamie Cheri Barcena, dedicated father to his son Salvador Romello Barcena II, two daughters, Raquel Maria Barcena and Angelina Rebbeca Barcena. Salvador was a beloved brother to Ray Barcena (Janetta Alvarez-Barcena), Frank Barcena (Esperanza Barcena-Esparza), Juanita Lagunas Barcena (Enrique Lagunas), Osiris Cabrera (Brandon Cabrera), and Blanca Barcena-Garcia (Gustavo Garcia). He was an uncle to 21 nieces and nephews.
Salvador was an inspiration to so many, whoever met him was able to dream of becoming something more than they ever thought they could be. He loved life and fought for 21 years just to be able to walk and dance with his family. His imagination was his greatest gift; he could make any dream become a reality. Salvador Barcena is a name that will live in all our hearts for years to come. Salvador traveled all over the United States. In his younger adult years, he was a truck driver who was able to see and do so many amazing things. He was a fantastic driver and though he would drive wild at times, he exuded confidence wherever he went or did. His gift of perception was “He was always right, even when he didn’t want to be”; along with the ability to always make you laugh and/or smile with his corny jokes. These gifts were prominent particularly when you were having a bad day --- it made things much brighter. A man of many talents; he was a writer, director, musician, and an artist. He was so many things and even though he was called home at such an early age; he lived life like it was his last.
Salvador was a fighter as well as a lover. He demonstrated strength of 1000 men; his mind was as sharp as a knife. Sal was compassionate and understanding even when he was upset with you; he always tried to make it right. Salvador experienced extraordinary things during his life. There were things that others would be afraid to do, such as creating and making his own film alongside wonderful people and friends. He sang and wrote his own songs, which were crafted to his perfection. His singing brought a sense of calmness whenever you heard him. It was something that others could say they were eager to listen. He even worked late nights as a truck driver to provide for his family all while being extremely funny and fun. He was a superb father, husband, brother, and son, doing things for others even more so than himself. He taught friends, family, and children his mentality as he went along down life's many roads. Salvador helped others strive to achieve their future goals, especially his children. He wanted to be able to teach everyone and more as much as he could.
Sal fought a tough fight for his family as he endured pain for several years. He thought of everyone as irreplaceable. If one was able to have known Sal during this lifetime, they were greatly blessed to have experienced such a wonderful soul. Salvador is no longer in pain, and he is free for eternity; his legacy of lessons and memories, strength, courageous, amazing, caring, fierce fighter will be truly missed by all.
