Sally Andazola Garcia, 59, of Albuquerque, New Mexico entered eternal rest Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born January 21, 1960, in Silver City, New Mexico to Miguel and Porfiria Andazola. She grew up in Silver City around much family and friends. This is where she met and married the love of her life, Marty Garcia, an enlisted navel man. At age 17, the Navy sent them far away to the State of South Carolina. It was here where she bore her first son, Jr., and developed a skill for survival and independence because there wasn’t any family close by. A few years past before Sally was able to come back home to Silver City. She had her second son, Fabien, and raised both her sons while attending Western New Mexico University. Sally was the first in her family to obtain a college degree, AS in Office Administration, which motivated her to move to Albuquerque in search of career opportunities, and a better life for her family.
Sally loved her little family. She worked tirelessly as an Insurance Agent to provide them with all the things they needed. She never missed a day of work and instilled those values in her boys. Making tamales was a must for Sally every Christmas season. She was adamant about carrying on these family traditions that her mother religiously practiced each year. There were many days where she would feed an army of teenage boys coming home from school. Yes, all of her sons friends were welcomed in her home and, they too, were drawn by her radiant energy that symbolized unity and family. These are the little things Sally did to create memories and bonds within her own household.
Sally enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She always made sure that they were safe and raised with good morals and values. Her belief in having a good education and doing what is right was her, “Chicken Soup,” for her grandchildren. She encouraged this with passion for this wisdom is what she carried and learned through her own experiences.
Sally had a very satirical tone about her. She could make anyone laugh, even the person she was sarcastic to. She never waited for something to be happy about, she sought to be happy. Her infectious smile could never be ignored. The strength and bravery in her battle with cancer did not break her smile or her spirit. In fact, her ineffable will to survive is beyond description, as she so brazenly traveled to Phoenix periodically to receive her treatments with the help of her caretaker and friend, Patsy Lopez. Sally will be so greatly missed by all her family, as she was that special piece of the puzzle that solidified our existence as a family.
Sally is survived by two sons, Marty Garcia Jr., Fabian Garcia (Stephanie); five grandchildren, Bella, Joseph, Cassie, Alyssa, and Kaylee; one granddog, Rosco, of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Patsy Carrasco, and Elsie Andazola, of Silver City, N.M.; one brother, Mike Andazola, of Chino, C.A.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Marty P. Garcia; parents, Miguel and Porfiria Andazola; one sister, Annie Andazola; and brother-in-law, Abel Carrasco.
