Ryan C. "Rhino" Gilliland, 18 passed away on May 11, 2016. Ryan was born on February 1, 1998 in Albuquerque, NM.
Ryan will always be remembered for his fast smile and quick wit. With a giant heart, he was always ready to help a hurting friend with a joke and a hug. He took time to really know people; his sincerity and loyalty were felt by all of those close to him.
Ryan was a talented street artist whose work on canvases large and small were full of creativity and energy. Ryan's use of bright colors and unique characters inspired thought and brought happiness to many.
Also a fan of music, he could often be found playing his guitar and singing with friends. In between art and music, Ryan was also an avid skateboarder, paint baller, and snowboarder.
A HUGE fan of Ohio State Buckeye football, fall afternoons were spent cheering them on or yelling at the television depending on the situation!
His love of animals is well known; he will be missed dearly by his dog Murphy along with several cats.
Ryan was blessed to have a very special relationship with his Aunt Kiki, Robyn Huffman. They shared a special bond and he loved her deeply.
Rhino will be forever missed by his family and friends but his spirit and energy will live on in all of us.
Ryan is survived by his father, Robert C. Gilliland; his mother, Janean M. Gilliland and her boyfriend Mario Moreno, and his son Derek; Grandmother, Johnnie "Nana" Goetz; Grandparents, Dr. Robert L. and Mary Ann Gilliland; Grandmother, Brenda Miller, and her daughter Lynett; Aunt, Kim Valentine; Aunt and Uncle, Robyn and Gary Huffman and their children Cole and Ethan; Aunt and Uncle, Michele and Lee Fulcher and their daughter, Ella; Cousins, Garett and Casey Hodges. Ryan is also survived on his mother's side of the family by many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Ryan also has a large extended family in the state of Utah. Ryan was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Kitty and Rick Miller; Grandmother, Loni Gilliland; and Grandfather, Philip Goetz.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2016, 10:30 a.m. at FRENCH - Lomas with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE.
