(Tom) Simms, Jr., D.D.S., wife, Mary Lou, his children, Tom and Jennifer and their mother, Sharron Sanchez, his step-children, Nick (wife, Chrissy and their children, Taylor and Christian) and Chelsea; son, Steven R. Simms, wife, Gail and their son, Jason (wife, Jillian); son, John P. Simms, Sr.; her sisters, Alice Tochterman and Mary Edith Sullivan; and her brothers, William Weber, Jr., John Weber, and Robert Weber.
When Ruth was two years old, her family moved to Rexburg, ID. She returned to New Mexico at age 12 and graduated from Tularosa High School in 1943. A year later, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles. They moved to Albuquerque's North Valley after World War II, where she was calm, steady, and reliable in running their home and raising their children. She patiently fed them, nursed their wounds, delivered them to their endless activities, and faithfully attended all of their recitals, concerts, and ball games, all without complaint. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and constantly bragged about her great-grandson, Desmond.
A very important part of her life was her 63-year membership, love and support of Grace United Methodist Church (formerly Harwood United Methodist Church) where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, was a long-time member of United Methodist Women, and volunteered at The Abundant Grace Free Store.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 420 San Lorenzo, NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Private Interment of her cremains will take place at the Santa Fe National Veterans' Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to Grace United Methodist Church or The Abundant Grace Free Store (same address as the Church).
