Ruth Santillanes, age 95, a lifelong resident of Alameda, NM died Wednesday, January 3, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 77 years, Elifas; children, Phil Santillanes and wife, Genieve, Meliton Santillanes, and Judy Bercier-Padilla and husband, Pete Padilla; grandchildren, Brenda, Rodney, Paul, Janelle, Ricky, Randy, Valerie, Jeanice, Wendy, Renee and Emila; over twenty great-grandchildren; over twenty-five great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Charlie Duran and wife, Lillian, Romeo Duran and wife, Betty, Marcella Lucero, and Ocariz West; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Meliton and Nora Duran; siblings, Herman Duran, Floran Duran,and Lala Lucero; son-in-law, Blaine Bercier; and daughter-in-law, Marie Santillanes.
Ruth was born in 1922 in Alameda, NM. She was a loving wife and grandmother, the glue that binded her family together. Ruth was a God-loving woman, very active in her community and very devoted to her church. She welcomed everyone with food and drink to her home. Ruth will be missed by all who knew her.
Friends may visit Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd. NE, Saturday, January 6, 2018, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
