Ruth L. Riekeman

Ruth L. Riekeman, Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, passed from this life on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. She is survived by her children, Dr. Guy F. Riekeman of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Cathy Riekeman and husband, Donald Cadenhead of Bosque Farms, NM, Rev. James (Budg) Riekeman and wife, Karen of Coffeyville, KS, and Russell S. Riekeman and wife, Robin of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Dr. Vanessa Helfrich and husband, Dr. Jason, Timothy Stuart, Dylan Riekeman and wife, Arica, Morgan Riekeman, Brady Riekeman, and Luna Riekeman; four great-grandchildren Tyler, Cael, Alec and Maggie; sisters, Mackie Heller and Pat Knapp; brother, Robert Buckles; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Alvin Riekeman; son, Timothy Riekeman; granddaughter, Alexis Riekeman; and brothers, Don and Ken Buckles. She was born in 1924 in Davenport, IA to Guy and Mabel Buckles and after graduation entered the United States Navy where she honorably served during WWII. After the war she returned to Davenport where she met her future husband who was attending Palmer School of Chiropractic. They moved to Albuquerque in November 1947 where Alvin set up his chiropractic practice and they raised their family of five. Ruth's life revolved around her family and her church. She was a perfectionist, an activist, and once her youngest child started grade school, she ran her husband's office as office manager and bookkeeper for the next twenty years. After his retirement in 1986, she ran her daughter's office up until this past August. She completely exemplified the woman in Proverbs 31. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be Friday, November 27, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
