Ruth (Refugio) Miramon died peacefully at home on December 13, 2015 in Albuquerque at the age of 97. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Esther Martinez and husband, Joseph; grandsons, Marcel Martinez of San Francisco, CA, and Marcos Martinez and wife, Erika of Santa Fe, NM; granddaughter, Leticia Gomez and husband, Marcelo of Albuquerque; great grandchildren, Alejandro, Diego, Eliana, Gabriela, and Javier Gomez, and Sofia Martinez. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita and Sarita, and brother, Frank Luna. Ruth was born on July 29, 1918 in Sonora, AZ to Carlos and Maria Luna. She moved to El Paso, TX and was raised by her aunt, Severiana Lopez, after her parents died. She married Alfred L. Miramon and lived in San Antonio, TX for three years. After returning to El Paso, TX, she graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and became an LPN. In 1952, she moved to Albuquerque and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Pediatrics. Later she worked in Pediatrics and retired from Presbyterian Hospital in downtown Albuquerque. In retirement, she worked part-time doing childcare for Rent-a-Granny and various church childcare centers in Albuquerque. Ruth was longtime member of Annunciation Parish, faithfully serving as a Marianite and Lay Canossian Associate. She was dedicated to her church and her family. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, December 21, 2015, 8:00 a.m. with Mass following at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont NE. with Monsignor Voorhies officiating.
