Ruth McLaughlin

June 10, 1924 — November 23, 2023

Ruth D. Welk (McLaughlin), 99 ½, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at home surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert O. Welk, her second husband James McLaughlin and her sister Edith. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great great-grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughters Alice Chouinard-Welk, Mary Trump and husband Douglas, Marie Armstrong, Pat Welk and husband Scott Edeal, Catherine Welk, Barbara Welk, Roberta Heine and husband Joe, Dolores Jack and husband Bruce, Ruth's buddy Leon Jaramillo who became our brother while taking care of our mother, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; her brother William R. McGonigle and wife Kathleen, niece Katie McGonigle, and brother Thomas E. McGonigle and wife Sandra. Ruth served in the Navy as a RN during WWII. She worked as a RN at St. Joseph's hospital in Albuquerque for 40 years. She was an active member in her church Sangre de Cristo Catholic Community, and she attended Calvary Chapel in Albuquerque. Ruth believed in Jesus Christ her Savior with her whole heart. A special thank you to all the family members and caregivers who assisted us throughout the years caring for mom at her home.
