Ruth Lucille Nylander Luck, age 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1986 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14, 2015. She is survived by her two daughters, Donna Hammond Grailing and husband, Don and Carol Riley; grandsons, Robert Hammond and Randy Hammond and wife, Kim; and other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Liston P. Luck; parents, Jonas and Effie Nylander; and siblings, Cecil, Dan, Viola, Mabel, Eva, and Gus. She was born in 1918 in Wheatland, WY and attended and graduated from college in Laramie, WY. Ruth taught in one room schools in WY until sometime in the 50's. After retirement and moving to Albuquerque, Ruth was a volunteer for thirteen years at Ronald McDonald house, an active volunteer at Meals-on-Wheels, and also volunteered as a tutor for the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy, teaching adults to read. She was active at St. Paul's Methodist Church, participating in the Deborah Circle. Ruth was also active up into her 90's in the Towne Park Lunch Group. On behalf of our loving mother, her daughters would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers from New Mexico Health Care at the Corrales Heights Manor. Thank you for the smiles and comfort you gave to our mother. Also, heartfelt thanks to Hospice de La Luz. Cremation has taken place and no service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
