Ruth Boydston

d. October 17, 2018

Ruth Boydston, age 92, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away peacefully on October 17, 2018.

Ruth was born in Clayton, New Mexico on December 7, 1925 on her family’s ranch. Because of the dust bowl, the family moved to Albuquerque where her father opened Marrs' Riding Academy. Her job was to lead trail rides. Later she became a hair stylist and worked at Linda’s Beauty Salon at Nob Hill until she retired in 1975. Ruth won many competitions for her hair styles and even won first place in a national competition.

Ruth married Francis Boydston in 1946. They built a cabin near the Pecos Wilderness around 1965 and after they retired, it became their Summer home and a place where they would spend time with their grandchildren. Ruth and her husband loved to travel and went to Fiji, New Zealand, Alaska and most of Europe. Ruth was an active member of Corvairs of New Mexico that Francis helped to start. They attended many national Corvair meets.

Ruth is known for her excellent baking, beautiful quilts, ability to witch water and use a chain saw.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Francis. She is survived by her sister, Tenna Ellen Eckert, and her daughters, Teena Marcus and Sherry Gray, her grandchildren, Amanda Ashurst, Miles Gray and Kate Marcus, and her three great grandchildren, Kassidy, Colton and Sawyer Gray.

An informal Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Hope NE Heights church. The address is 4710 Juan Tabo Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM 87111.
