Ruby Lee Worley was born December 28, 1913 at Wauhillau, OK to Chester Arthur Worley and Maude Worley. Ruby graduated from High School in Stillwell, OK and obtained a teaching certificate and taught school in a Cherokee Indian community. She was 18 years old then and realized that she passionately enjoyed teaching and pursued further education at Oklahoma Baptist University; Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK; Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM; Colorado University in Boulder, CO and USC in California throughout her teaching career. In 1934, Ruby came to teach in Logan, NM. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Ulman "Monte" Montgomery in 1935. That marriage lasted 68 years until his death in 2003. They taught at Quay, Eunice, Monument and Hobbs before moving to Albuquerque in 1952. Ruby enjoyed her family and being involved in church activities, tennis club, bridge club, substitute teaching, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts with her children, traveling with friends and time at the family cabin in Chama, NM. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, U.G. "Monte" Montgomery. She passed away on the day of their wedding anniversary, May 25th. She is survived by her children, Carolyn, Johnny, Monte Gene and Sue and spouses; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at Manzano del Sol, 5201 Roma Ave NE Albuquerque, NM 87108.
