Ruby Grace Hanthorn 83, beloved wife of Robert Russell Hanthorn, passed away on October 19, 2018 following a multi-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ruby was born on January 2, 1935, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania to Mary Emma Baranowske. Ruby spent her early life in Pennsylvania and later in Ohio where she attended Port Clinton High School. She met her husband, Robert in Ohio. Bob and Ruby moved to Albuquerque in 1957 along with her parents, Mary and William Joseph Donohoe, and sisters, Sharon and Marylyn. In Albuquerque, Ruby had and nurtured three exceptional daughters, Kathleen, Karen, and Kristine. Ruby worked for many years as a bank teller where she met many wonderful co-workers and customers. Ruby’s whole life was focused around her family and she exemplified what it meant to be a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. Ruby is survived by her husband, Robert; her two sisters and their spouses, Sharon and George (Arthur) and Marylyn and John (Kirk); her daughters and their spouses, Kathy and her husband, Mitch (McCrory), Karen and her husband, Jim (Holden-Rhodes), Kris and her husband, Dan (Derieg); her six grandchildren, Amanda and her husband, Zekiel (Snyder), Kenneth McCrory and his wife, Katharine, Tiffany and her husband, Luke (Mosel), Russell, Katrina, and Brittany; and nine great grandchildren, Zane, Dylan, Zoey, Brielle, Zuri, Elijah, Aria, Emma, and Zyah. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Bill. She will truly be missed and forever in our hearts.
The family would like to thank those that helped care for Ruby over the last several years and in the end stages of her disease. These include, but are not limited to, Beehive Homes of Bernalillo, Alliance Home Care and Hospice, and other health providers that spent so much time taking care of Ruby.
