Roy F. Ellison Jr

Roy F. Ellison, Jr., age 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017. He is survived by his children; Julie Wylie and husband, Wayne of Austin, TX, Cindy Franks of Albuquerque, and Tony Ellison and spouse, Freda Arellano; three grandchildren, John J. Franks V, Andrew Franks and wife, Hannah, and Kyla Franks; siblings, Lorraine Duncan and husband Bill, LoEtta Cuccio and husband Dick, Gene Ellison and wife Lou, and Doug Ellison and wife Nellie, and numerous extended family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Lena Ellison; and son, Don Ellison. He was a proud Korean Conflict Veteran, receiving his Bachelors Degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and his Masters from Massachusettes Institute of Technology. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Sandia Labs until his retirement. He absolutely loved his work indicating he'd have paid 'them' to do the job he did! Roy, aka: "Bud" to his family and close friends, was insatiably curious. He loved driving, playing chess & tennis and bowling. His green thumb and joy of the great outdoors manifested an abundance of fruits and vegetables from his garden each year. Roy was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Crypt side Service will be held Thursday, March 9, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
