BOYD, ROY ROBERT (BOB)A resident of Albuquerque since 1948 went to meet his Lord on August 23, 2012. Bob was born on Christmas morning 1921, on the family ranch in Jacksboro, TX. Bob had two older siblings, Helena Davidson and William Boyd. His parents, Roy L and Blanche had come from Nebraska to Texas in the early 1900s. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Kathaleen; son, Roy and daughter in law Sara (Athens OH) and granddaughters, Karla (Boston, MA) and Sharon (Washington, DC). Bob was trained as an aircraft mechanic in the early 1940s and enlisted in the army during WW II. He served honorably for two years in the occupation forces in Italy, went into the Army Reserve and retired as a Major. He attended the University of New Mexico and worked for Sandia National Laboratories retiring in 1984 after 35 years of service as a division supervisor. Bob was a member of Albuquerque's First Baptist Church for over 60 years. He served in many leadership capacities as a deacon and Sunday school director. Additionally he provided critical advice in the repair and maintenance of equipment at First Baptist Church. Bob was a dedicated community member, and loving father and grandfather. He will be missed by many. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday August 27 at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Family visitation is on Sunday August 26 from 5 - 7 PM at French Mortuary. Interment will take place in Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday Aug 29 at 12:45 PM.FRENCH1111 University Blvd NE505-843-6333
