Ross L. Pratt

Ross L. Pratt passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in Albuquerque, New Mexico after an abrupt and all-consuming battle with cancer. He was 66 years old. Despite spending many days away from home and his dogs, he never lost his dry sense of humor or charisma and enthusiasm for life. As he always said to those of us in need of encouragement, he "kept his tail feathers up" until the very end.

Ross was always of the mindset that 'less is more', an ironic sentiment given the amount of Christmas decorations he owned and his stockpiles of car detailing products. For him, indulgence in the simple pleasures of life brought the most joy: Vanilla ice cream. Mom-and-Pop Mexican food joints. Chocolate milk. A day on the golf course. Camping. Blasting music with the lights low. Burgers in the backyard. Driving just to drive. Endless phone calls with his children and mother. Vacations around the country that his family will never forget.

Ross was kind, sentimental, and tender-hearted. In times of turbulent wind, he'd determinedly collect a praying mantis from a tree in the yard and shield it until the wind subsided. He was adamant about singing the Happy Birthday song in an upbeat manner, after all, why do we sing it so dejected? He'd carry conversations into his driveway well after telling guests goodbye inside. He will be missed dearly by his loved ones.

Ross is survived by his mother, Frankie Clemons; son, Jared Pratt; daughters, Regan Bassett, and Carlie Pratt; and grandchildren, Owen Pratt, Sage Pratt, Jordyn Bassett, and Cullen Kapourniotis.
