It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rosie Serna, a beloved member of the Albuquerque community. Born on November 26, 1939, in Albuquerque, NM, Rosie peacefully departed this world on August 17, 2024, and was greeted by her Lord and Savior and beloved husband, Eloy.
As the proud owner and operator of Eloy's Mexican Restaurant in Albuquerque, Rosie's passion for hospitality shone through in all aspects of her life. Her dedication and hard work made her restaurant a beloved establishment in the community. She enriched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and unforgettable culinary talents. She was known as a very devoted Catholic.
Rosie is survived by her loving daughters, Debbie Black, Loretta Martinez, and Eloisa Taylor (Carl Baca); her siblings, Paul Sanchez (Patricia), Johnny Sanchez (Sandra), Marylou Saavedra (Felix), and her in-laws Dolores Sanchez, and Phil Lucero. Grandchildren: Rosemary (Matthew), Lisa (Matt), Azalea, Brittany, Antoinette (Jeremiah), Amanda (Daniel), Tamara (Alex), Christina (Jonathan), Deanna (Sergio), Roman (Roxanne), Jensen Baca, and blessed with many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, many godchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eusebio and Emma Sanchez, her love of her life, and her main squeeze, Eloy Serna. Her siblings are Lucy Tafoya, Emily Martinez, Charles Sanchez, Willie Sanchez (Josephine), Eusebio Sanchez, Jr., and her beloved sister-in-law, Theresa Lucero. Sons-in-law Frank R. Barela and Ronald Martinez, and longtime friend Joe Armenta.
A Rosary will be held at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church on August 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with a eulogy recited by David Sanchez. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. with Celebrant Monsignor Olona and Deacon Pilar.
Rosie's final resting place will take place after Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with dignity and grace. Her pallbearers are Brandon, Robert, Jensen, Eli, Augustine, Xavier with honorary pallbearers: Mia, Eloy, Ricky, Uriah, Dominic, Andrew, Issac, Roman, Kelvin, Jaxon, Julian.
