On the birthdate of our savior Jesus Christ, our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother was called home to heaven. Born in Hays, Kansas, as the daughter of Edward and Eleanor Frank, Rosemary cherished the many friends and experiences she enjoyed throughout her lifelong journey. Having attended Ft. Hays State College, she moved with her family to Denver, CO, where she worked as an Assistant Librarian at Regis University and taught at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School. While attending a conference in Omaha, NE, her senior year of high school, she met and later married her husband and love of her life, Aldo Vaio after he graduated from the University of Notre Dame.
Rosemary was a strong believer in her Catholic faith and parochial education. She was instrumental in starting the library at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and taught remedial reading to students requiring enhanced tutoring. Throughout the years she was engaged in several aspects of the School and was a member of the Fatima School Board.
Rosemary also had a passion for servitude and felt a strong calling for those needing special assistance. Working closely with Sr. Louise and the Canossian Daughters of Charity, as the President of the Women's Auxiliary, she was instrumental in the early development of Casa Angelica, a home for children and young adults with developmental disabilities. She also volunteered for many years with the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.
During the latter years of her life, Rosemary felt a strong calling to the needs of expectant mothers through the Birthright organization. Recognizing the love and security newborns require, she sewed hundreds of blankets and layettes that were given as presents to these mother's as a way of reinforcing their decision to preserve life. There was nothing more special to Rosemary than knowing that she in some way helped a child in need.
Above all, Rosemary's greatest love was her husband and family. While actively supporting her husband's business ventures, she was a strong presence in raising their four children who all attended local Catholic Schools and graduated from college with advanced degrees. Along with her husband, Rosemary was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter born this year.
Rosemary is survived by her husband of 56 years, Aldo Vaio of Albuquerque; and children, Bruce and wife, Cindy Vaio, of San Antonio, TX, Beth and husband, Dr. David Leon of Denver, CO, Lynn and husband, Greg Notarianni of Denver, CO, and the memory of her youngest son, Robert (preceded Rosemary into heaven) and his wife, Laura Lee Vaio of Houston, TX; grandchildren include, David and wife, Samantha Vaio, Brian Vaio, Kimberly Vaio, Allie Leon, Jill Leon, Mark Leon, Joey Notarianni, Dan Notarianni, Alexandra Vaio, Brett Vaio and John Robert Vaio; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Leigh Vaio.
A Rosary is scheduled for Wednesday, December 30, 2015, 6:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, December 31, 2015, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed immediately by burial rite at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
